As may know , there is a help available on the internet but it is for old version of AVG internet security, so it is not very handy.

I’m going to explain how you can change the configuration of your AVG internet security to have access to UWA SNAP or any other Microsoft VPN network.

STEP1:

First of all we should open the AVG user interface by double clicking on its icon next to windows clock.

Now, click on Tools->Firewall setting menu

STEP2:

Now open the profile setting part

STEP3:

Select the small home or office network and then click on the Duplicate Profile.

As above picture shows, you should see the Small or home or office network copy on two parts of the windows.

You can change the name profile , by clicking on profile on left hand side window and the click on the name of profile that you want to change its name.

STEP4:

Select the profile name on the left hand side window , and click on + symbol, after that select the defined networks.

You should see a windows similar to the bottom picture

STEP5:

Click on Add network. so the Network properties windows show be appear.

Type your network name or your desirable name (we need it later) and the check the box entitled Network is safe , after that, click on Add IP

Type the IP of the VPN, it should be provided by your network administrator , then click ok

STEP6:

The name of your network and its IP Address should be now shown on the firewall setting window.

STEP7:

Select the system services from left hand side of the windows and find the GRE Protocol. after that, you should click on Block word.

Now select the Allow for safe.

STEP8:

Do the same (Step 7)  for PPTP VPN protocol. Then you should be able to see the Allow for safe sentence in front of PPTP VPN and GRE Protocol.

STEP9:

Now, we should click on Manage user system rules, so the the User-defined systems rules should be appear.

Click on the Add button to open change rule windows, then chose a name for the new rule , say VPN1

STEP10:

Then, click on word in front of protocol word, by default it is TCP, so we should click on TCP word, then a new windows which has been shown in the next picture should be opened

As above picture shows, we should select “user defined protocol : a number between 0 and 255” for first rule (but as you will see, for some next step we should define some rules for TCP and UDP protocols, so for pre-defined rules such as TCP and UDP, we should just select the protocol name from above list). Now we should type number 47 or we can select the GRE from the list of other known protocols. then click on ok button.

Now you should see the GRE word in front of the protocol as above picture shows.

STEP11:

Now change other setting based on bottom table

In order to change the remote address, we should click on the word in front of remote address(es) word which is Undefined by the default.

STEP12:

Now, select the Network that you have defined it in pervious steps. you can also select the safe network.

Besides, you should ADD other 5 rules besides on the bottom table. Now, the user-defined system rules should be similar the bottom picture.

STEP13:

As final step, we should connect the rules to the network, we can do it in different way, for example we can do it manually, it means we should open the AVG user interface – > Firewall –> select Firewall profile (firewall setting) and then we should select the name of our rule which we define by above steps.

Besides, we can assign rules to networks which is much handier, because the AVG will be able to change the settings and it will select the right profile automatically. As you know, two windows may appear whenever our laptop or our PC connects to a new network. One of the is relate to Microsoft Internet Firewall, and we should just select the public network, the another one is AVG windows, that we should select a name and assign a profile to the network.

So it is clear that if you want to connect to the SNAP for first time, you should select a desirable name and then you should select the profile that you have created by following the above steps.

If you have already connected to the network and you have assigned a name to the network, you should be able to see the name of network on

AVG user interface –> tools –> firewall setting –> Areas and Adapters profile

The name of networks appear at the end of list.

As UWA students have to connect to SNAP and after that they can connect to VPN, I have indicated the both Network Area and Dial-up adaptor that we should assign them the rules, but generally, you should just need to assign the rule to your VPN connection.

For assigning the rules to a network area or a connection , we should select it and then we should click on Edit Area and after that a windows similar to bottom window will be opened.

Now , we can assign the rule which we have already created to selected area or Dial-up connection.

UWA student should assign the rules to both SNAP and Dial-up Connection that they use to connect to VPN.

That’s it.

Type of a video file is different from of its extension, so it makes the problem much more complicated.

Fortunately,  many codec Packs exist that can help us. I prefer the “Windows Essential Codec Pack” because it includes all codec packs that we usually need.Besides we do not need to have high knowledge about different codes existing. Actually we just need install this program

I suggest you restart you computer after installing it.

If we want to play a video files which are not supported by Windows Media player but we have already installed another program to play and watch it , we should right click on the video file then we should select Open with->Choose Default Program(if it exists). Then we should select MS windows media player

If we want to play a video file which are not supported by Windows Media player but we have not already installed another program to play and watch it , we should right click on the video file then we should just select “Open” menu then we should select MS windows media player.

• You should use the “NEW” button to take a snap photo.
  
• You should select the picture, select copy ,… to copy it to the clipboard
• It does not  save the picture automatically.
• It cannot edit the pictures.
• It draws a red line around the pictures .

What I suggest you is to use a free program called Snap.

You can use the software to copy a formula or a picture from a PDF file, a software environment , etc.

You can download it from its official website but as it is a very old program and its download-link might be faulty,so you can use this alternative link to download MWsnap, thank to Cnet.

Installing the program is very straightforward.

What I’m gonna to explain is some settings of this program.

Now just open the Tools>Settings

I suggest to configure this program and change its setting same to the below pictures

Now open the Tools -> Hot keys and then change it same to below Pics

If you want the snapped pics to be saved  automatically , just open the Tools->Settings-> Auto-Saving and tick the “Auto-saving is active” check box.

The default format is BMP, I suggest you to change it to jpeg.

Now you can reset your computer.

If you want to edit your picture, you will just need to click on the icon next to your windows clock

Then the main window will appear with some simple editing tools.

Step1:

Download the styles On the middle of the page you can find a a zip file download link which includes all available styles. Then, you can a see the link of Bibword Styles

Step2:

Extract the zip file into a folder; for example c:\styles . If you haven’t got any archiving program such as winzip,7zip or IZArc, any zip file will be opened by windows same as a folder. just copy them to a folder

Step3:

Copy the styles to style folder of MS Word On most machines with Microsoft Word 2007 this will be:

c:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Bibliography\Style
or
d:\program files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Bibliography\Style

Step4:

Use it! Run the MS word, now you can see the long list of available styles, and you can find the style that you need , hopefully

If you do not know how you can use it , just follow the below pictures.

Select the place that you want put the citation then, choose the style that you would like to use it(look at the above picture) then click on Insert citation, after that select the add new source…

Now, select the type of source, then the window will be changed to provide you the all fields that you need to enter the data.

Some times you may need an example, fortunately , you can see an example on bottom of the window, whenever you select a field . If you need further assistance to input a data; for example, the name of author, there is a edit button, so you can click on it , then another window will be appear,it has more details.

I suggest you to use them, because we should follow the structure strictly , I always use them to enter the name authors etc.

Step5:

If you have already used a reference , you just need select it and you do not have to enter data. The list of references that you have used is appear if you click on Inset citation again.

Step6:

If you want to add other sources that you have used in other documents, or if you want to manage your sources, just click on manage sources next to Insert citation.

Step7:

What else?!!! oohh, final bibliography You just need to click on Bibliography and Bibliography

Then a Bibliography part will be added to your document , you can select it to edit it; for example, you can change the Bibliography title to References .

If you edit the sources, or if you add a new source to your document, you should create the new Bibliography part.

you can select this part and the you should select the citations and Bibliography.
